Ukraine Tax Code Published

On August 3 the Ukraine government published a new draft Tax Code for public consultation prior to a second reading in Parliament. However, it quickly became known that Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Tigipko, who headed the working committee responsible for the Code, was not consulted on this draft before publication, and was still intent on publishing his own draft with further amendments.

Italian Bank Chief Open To Financial Tax

Corrado Passera, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo, the large Italian banking group, has disclosed that he would not be totally against the imposition of a marginal tax on banking transactions in Italy.

France To Reduce Tax Breaks

French Prime Minister François Fillon has announced a general paring down by 10% of all tax breaks in France, albeit with a few 'exceptions' so as to not increase labour costs, and has also confirmed plans to abolish some tax shelters on a 'case-by-case' basis.
